SHILLONG, DEC 12: The Global Funding Team from Geneva will be visiting the East Garo Hills from December 15 to 17 as the district have been chosen by the Directorate of National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, to showcase the success stories leading to malaria elimination by 2030.
According to the District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Janulla K Marak, team will be visiting the district for documenting the malaria program by meeting the local implementing partners, following the community health workers and taking their photographs, videos, etc. The team will be made to witness the home visits, use of Long Lasting Insecticide tested Nets (LLIN) and testing the community awareness on malaria and documenting their stories as the district had shown a decline in malaria cases by 80 per cent in 2017.
