Shillong, Dec 5: “It was not a jailbreak but a pre-planned jailbreak”, said the Steering Committee against Murder of Democracy (SCAMoD) counsel Poonam Yadav to the Justice (Rtd) SP Rajkhowa Inquiry Commission probing into the infamous 2009 Shillong Jailbreak.
“It was not what you called a jailbreak but it is more a pre-planned jailbreak as most of the warders were found to have helped Fullmoon – the ring leader of the jailbreak to escape from the jail,” said Yadav to reporters Wednesday.
Presenting her arguments on the events that led to the jailbreak, Yadav told the commission, “On that day everybody from the jail authority to others just disappear for no reasons…somebody went for tea, toilet which could be avoided … you have just come five minutes back and you want to go again for nature’s call or you come from home and you want to go for a cup of tea.”
Yadav further argued that the two gates of the jail should have two people manning and kept under lock and key… “but they were also not there and the gate was not locked …isn’t it not pre planned.”
Yadav revealed that the person sitting at the gate had asked Fullmoon to hit him on the head so that others will think that he was trying to stop Fullmoon and accordinglu he was hit with only slight bleeding and instantly became a hero that day. However, she continued that later everyone knew that it was pre planned and that he was given a bundle of five hundred notes.
Quoting one of the Under Trail Prisoners, Yadav said, “In his statement the UTP has revealed that he had gone with Fulmoon and others because the jail people did not stop so them when thye escaped.”
Yadav informed that the commission is likely to give its judgments by January 9 next year. – By Our Reporter
