SHILLONG, AUG 6: Six persons were arrested by the police for involvement in two of the three cases of arsons that was reported during the eleven hours ngos sponsored road blockade on Friday night. Police said three of the six arrested are KSU volunteers.
A motorbike and haystack where set on fire in two separate incidents and a police mobile vehicle driver was assaulted on Friday night after the road blockade started at around 10 pm.
According to East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang, the three KSU volunteers identified as Paul Miki Kharkongor, Jerry Mawthoh and Tonbor Wankhar were arrested while they were burning a haystack belonging to Gajendra Rai at Pynthorbah. He said fire in the haystack was quickly extinguished.
In another incident Kharkhrang informed that at around 11.15 pm, the driver of the police mobile party parked the vehicle at Mawiong near the Mawphor office and the driver entered a shop to buy kwai when suddenly three boys came in a local taxi ML 10-2909 and threatened and assaulted the driver. He said the boys had no clue that the driver and the vehicle belonged to the police.
Kharkhrang informed that police team immediately rushed to the spot and apprehended the three boys identified Kitbok Lynkhoi of Mawlai Nongkwar, Roland Wahlang of Mawlai, Umshorshor and Kitbok Kharsyntiew of Mawlai, Umjapung.
In another incident, miscreants set on fire a motorbike at Lumparing at around 11 pm. Police are investigating the case and trying to find out the culprits responsible for setting the bike on fire.-By Our Reporter
