SHILLONG, FEB. 22: The East Khasi Hills administration has decided to ply over 100 vehicles in the district to ferry people free of cost from their localities to the polling stations so as to enable them exercise their franchise on polling day on Saturday.
The decision to provide free transport was taken in view of the bandh called by the HNLC in the Khasi and Jaintia Hills in an attempt to prevent people from voting.
East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner Sanjay Goyal said the vehicles would ply on all major routes in the city as well as in the rural areas of the district. In case of any difficulty, he said, the public can contact the control room on 1803453651 for help. (By Our Reporter)
