SHILLONG, JUNE 13: Four people died in a landslide that hit the certain villages along the National Highway – 44 in East Jaintia hills district on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at around 4.30 am, when the landslide incidents happen at Tongseng and Rattacherra, a village bordering Assam state.
Sources said the landslide is the result of incessant rainfall for the past few days.
“As per information received, four passengers of a vehicle travelling through Ratacherra are said to have died in the landslide incident,” Officer In-charge of Khliehriat police station informed.
He, however, said police are still waiting for details since the network connectivity has also been disrupted due to the bad weather.
The bodies are yet to be identified. Sources, however, said that after the incident, vehicles are stranded as the national highway has been affected due to the landslide.- By Our Reporter
