SHILLONG, NOV 29: Nearly two weeks after miscreants set on fire tea stall owner Bisheshwar Das after pouring petrol on him inside his tea stall at Bishnupur, police arrested four KSU members on Friday for their involvement in the incident. The KSU Lawsohtun unit general secretary is among the four who were arrested.
Acting on tip off that some of the members of the KSU were on their way to Shillong from Nongstoin, police immediately laid a trap and nabbed two members at Elephant Falls junction in Upper Shillong, East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang said on Friday.
The arrested persons have identified as Readyonstone Nongrum (23) who is the general secretary of KSU – Lawsohtun Unit and Shemphang Nongkynrih(27), a member of the Lawsohtun Unit who were both residents of the Lawsohtun Block – IV. Subsequently, the West Khasi hills district police also arrested Peter Lyngkhoi (26) from Lawsohtun Block – II and Johny Sohkhlet (26) from Lawsohtun Block-I from their hideout in Nongstoin.
Kharkhrang said the arrest of the four KSU members are a major breakthrough for the district police in the case relating to burning Das who has gone to Guwahati for treatment as he had received fifty percent burn injuries.- By Our Reporter
