SHILLONG, MAR 17: The arrest of four persons led police to an under-construction building in Ladrymbai, East Jaintia Hills district, where they recovered two motorcycles and disassembled parts.

East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem on Tuesday said that four accused picked up by Jowai Police admitted to stealing two Yamaha R15s and a Scooty from Shillong locations, leading officers to an under‑construction building in Ladrymbai where two motorcycles and stripped parts were recovered.

He said the arrests followed the March 2 detention of Shabamutlang Syiemlieh in a Golflinks theft.

Jowai Police subsequently apprehended Vencentstar Tongwah, Kitborlang Mawlong, Royalroy Lyngdoh and Ayan Kharthangmaw for cases registered at Laitumkhrah and Sadar stations.

“During interrogation, the accused voluntarily admitted to have recently stolen one Yamaha R15 from Umroi, one Yamaha R15 from Goraline, Laitumkhrah and one Scooty from Golf Links,” Syiem said.

The group told police they handed the vehicles to a person at Ladrymbai.

A team from East Khasi Hills raided a building at Dongwah, Ladrymbai, recovering a Yamaha R15 (ML05 AB 2991), a Yamaha Ray Z (ML05 AE 1478) and disassembled parts of another R15 and a Scooty—packed in sacks, “ready for sending out.”

Syiem said many parts spotted at the site are yet to be matched and that investigation is ongoing “to crack down on the bike theft nexus.”
