SHILLONG, JUNE 10: The FKJGP-Laskein circle- has urged the state government to speed up the construction of the Residential School at Khliehrangnah in Shangpung village under Laskein block in West Jaintia hills district in the interest of the public.
“We urged the government to speed up the process of construction of the resident school for promoting education in the region,” FKJGP-LC president Treiminot Suchiang said in a memorandum submitted to the Meghalaya deputy chief minister- in charge Education- RC Laloo.
According to him, the demand is made because land measuring about 20 acres has already been donated by the Dorbar Shnong of Khliehrangnah.
“This land was also formally handed over to the District School Education Officer of West Jaintia Hills District on March 24, 2015,” Suchiang said.
He also said that the office of the Chief Engineer PWD (B) has on March 25, issued a notice inviting tender for the construction of the residential school for Laskein block at Shangpung Khliehrangnah.
Expressing appreciation to the state government for taking interest for promotion of education in the area, he said that the coming up of the residential school will be a great blessing for the people of Shangpung village and Laskein Block in particular.- By Our Reporter
