SHILLONG, JAN 23: The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) school at Mahendraganj in South West Garo hills has become the first school in the Meghalaya to get Smart Classroom with the inauguration of its new Samsung Smart Class on Wednesday. The infrastructures for the Smart Classroom have been provided with generous grants from Samsung Company.
The grand inaugural function was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo hills Ram Singh and district police chief R Muthu, besides the teachers.
Considering the academic excellence of the Vidyalaya, Samsung Company has provided 41 laptops with Windows 8 OS 10 Tablet PCs and a Smart Board which can be used as blackboard having all the functions of a touch-screen computer, which is a wonderful and exciting innovative technique in the process of teaching in the classroom.
Ram Singh and R. Muthu were impressed with the latest technology and spoke to the teachers and students on the use and importance of the new device. Singh, who is also the chairman of Vidyalaya Management Committee, said that he has great expectations from the students of the school having such an advanced technological teaching aids in the midst of many educational institutions struggling for even basic facilities in the entire Meghalaya.
With Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme being launched recently, Singh hoped that the Vidayalya students will achieve their goals and motivate the others too.
JNV principal Sreenivasa Rao apprised the guests, parents and the students on the aims and objectives of the new enterprise. Kamal Kafley (TGT,Sc.) explained the functioning of the Smart Board and offered a brief demonstration of the teaching process, while Sanjay Kumar (PGT Hist.), in charge of the Smart Classroom and Eusuf Ahmed (FCSA) were present there for assistance in the operation of the Smart Board.
