SHILLONG, OCT 28: A house was completely damaged when fire broke out that led to a cylinder blast at Nar Sing Akra locality under Lumdiengjri police station on Tuesday noon. The incident took place at around 12 noon, police said. The house belongs to one Ashok Thakur.
According to police, the incensed sticks which were burnt inside the house on the occasion of the chatt puja could be cause of fire.
“Partial fire started from a room where puja is done where incense stick were burnt,” East Khasi hills SP) M Kharkrang said. He said the house accommodate homes for seven families.
However during the incident, three families lost their homes as the fire increased when the gas cylinder burst, Kharkhrang informed. No casualty was reported; he said adding “We are not suspecting any arson case on this incident is pure accident.”
Fire fighters rush to the place of occurrence and with the support of people from the locality; the fire was extinguished.- By Our Reporter
