FIR against Marvelene Inn

SHILLONG, JAN 8: TUR and CSWO have filed an FIR against the proprietor/ owner (s)/ management of Marvelene Inn, Rilbong,  owned by Meghalaya home minister HDR Lyngdoh. The FIR was filed hillong under POCSO Sec 21 (1) which holds liable persons for failure to report to the commission of an offence or apprehension that an act is likely to be committed under POCSO.

The FIR urged the police to register a case under sec 370 IPC as amended by the Criminal Law amendment act 2013 which holds liable persons who for the purpose of exploitation harbours and receives a person or persons.

The ngos alleged that aminor was twice “received” and “harboured” at Marvelene Inn where she was sexually assaulted and raped.

TUR and CSWO also urges all concerned individuals, dorbars, Seng Kynthei, Seng Samla, the child rights and womens commissions and other organisations to join the rally on  January 11 at 11am from Firebrigade ground to additional secretariat parking lot to protest against the recent crimes against women and children and to press the demand for the resignation of home minister HDR Lyngdoh.

In two ngos also wants an independent and speedy investigation ensuring closure of the guest houses involved in the trafficking case and ensuring guidelines for guest houses to prevent reoccurrence of such crimes in future .
