SHILLONG, APR 16: Ex Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) chief executive member (CEM) Madonbai Rymbai on Wednesday lodged a complaint against the president of the Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) for allegedly demanding Rs 5 lakh from his election agent.
According to the FIR, the JYF president Poipynhun Majaw allegedly send an SMS on Wednesday to the complainant’s polling and counting agent in the last district council elections, Esterwis Ryngkhlem demanding Rs 5 lakhs, police said.
Rymbai, who was earlier arrested by police for allegedly threatening the JYF president, alleged that Majaw had on April 4 made similar demand from the agent and also threatened to damage his (Rymbai) image and political career when Ryngkhlem refused to pay the amount demanded.
Further, Rymbai informed the police on March 11 Majaw had also gone to his residence at Khliehtyrshi village in a Maruti car (ML-05E-1824) and had demanded Rs 5 lakhs.
Case has been registered and police are investigating into the allegation, police said.- By Our Reporter
