SHILLONG, MAR 22: Meghalaya government on Tuesday said it is contemplating of setting up a film institute to promote the local film makers of the region.
This was indicated by the Information & Public Relation (IPR) minister AL Hek during the course of his reply in the assembly on Tuesday.
“Yes the government is coming up with a film institute,” he said while replying to a supplementary raised by UDP legislator Jemino Mawthoh.
Stating that the film industry is making its mark in entertainment business in the state, Mawthoh wanted to know the steps taken by the state government in the form of coming up with a film studio to help local film makers.
Highlighting on the steps taken by the government, Hek said workshops, interactive sessions and festivals including the Indian Panorama Film Festivals have been organized to promote local film making.-By Our Reporter
