SHILLONG, AUG 28: NPP state president Prestone Tynsong on Friday termed former MP Dr WR Kharlukhi’s resignation from the party as not unusual in politics, though he admitted feeling bad about it.
Tynsong said such developments happen across parties.
“This is not the first time. Senior leaders resigning from one party and joining another happens everywhere, almost every now and then. It is not an extraordinary incident,” he said.
He described Kharlukhi as one of the founding fathers of the NPP and said his departure was disheartening.
“I feel bad because he was one of the founding fathers of the NPP. But I cannot do anything if he wants to resign. He said it was due to personal reasons,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.
