SHILLONG, MAY 27: North West Khasi hills district Hynniewtrep National Achik Movement (HANM) general secretary Devijune Myrthong who recently joined the ongoing indefinite hunger strike along with former KHADC chief Adelbert Nongrum was admitted in a city hospital after his health deteriorated on Wednesday morning.
Myrthong was taken to the Shillong Civil hospital by members of the KHNAM after he complained of severe pain in the stomach. He was later admitted by the doctors in the hospital as he was suffering from Gastric problem.
Myrthong along with two other leaders of the HANM including its central body vice president Bobby Basaiawmoit and Nongkhlaw circle working president Samborlang Lyngkhoi had joined the fast protest on Saturday last supporting and expressing solidarity with Nongrum.
Earlier, Goldy Warjri, who joined Nongrum’s fast protest since day one, was also taken to the civil hospital but he refused treatment and went back to continue his fast.
Speaking to a doctor who came to conduct medical check up on the five fast-protestors including Nongrum said that the health condition of Warjri and another supporter of the fast are not good at the moment.
“They are weak,” she said while informing that Nongrum’s health was stable.
The indefinite fast by Nongrum, which entered the eleventh day here, was staged to demand immediate passing of the KHAD (Village Administration) Bill, 2014.- By Our Reporter
