SHILLONG, APR 1: A young farmer Shanborstar Mawthoh (19) died when a lightning struck him while he was working in the field at Mawlynrei village on Thursday. The incident took place at around 2 pm when there was heavy rainfall couple with thunder and hailstorms.
The family of late Mawthoh decided not to remove his body with the belief that he would come back to life. He was the third among the siblings of T Mawthoh and D Thabah.
The family of the deceased decided to keep his body at the place where the incident occur till three days and three nights expecting that a miracle will happen which will bring him back to life.
It is also said that the family has also prohibit anybody from touching the body during this time.
On contacting, the village headman O Pyngrope confirmed the incident and said that the family has decided not to remove the body of the young farmer. When asked, he said that the village dorbar cannot say anything about this as it relates to the sentiment of the family.
“They have decided to wait till three days and three nights for their son to come back to life,” Pyngrope said adding “We have to respect their sentiment and we are just supporting by visiting the place where all of them are waiting.”-By Our Reporter
