SHILLONG, OCT 7: A Bangladeshi fake Indian currency racketeer was apprehended by the BSF while he was trying to infiltrate into Indian territory from Bangladesh from the Indo-Bangla border in South Garo hills district.
He has been identified as Satal Nokret (25) from Taranagar village in Bangladesh.
The face value of the fake currency is Rs. 8,000 (denomination Rs. 1000×8) which was recovered from his possession, a BSF officials said.
Meanwhile, the BSF has also apprehended three Indian and three Bangladeshi smugglers and seized 103 wooden log, 200 bottles of liquor, 14 cattle, 15 bottles of Phensydle and other contraband items, worth value over 10 lakh while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on Meghalaya border with Bangladesh during last week.
Apprehended persons and seized items have been handed over to the police.
Meanwhile in Tura the BSF officers and jawans of 57th battalion Border Security Force today donated 45 units of blood to the blood bank Civil Hospital Tura. The commandant, Raja Paul led his team at the voluntary donation camp held at its Praharinagar unit. The initiative was to mark the paramilitary force’s 50th raising day. “The blood will be used to save the lives of needy patients of Garo hills”, said Paul.- By Our Reporter
