SHILLONG, APR 27: Meghalaya deputy chief minister Rowel Lyngdoh inaugurated the ‘Enterprise Facilitation Centre (EFC)’ – a basin development unit under the Meghalaya Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme (MIBDLP) at Mawkyrwat Community and Rural Development block office in South West Khasi hills district on Friday.
The objective of setting up the Enterprise Facilitation Centre is to provide people, especially the entrepreneurs of the area, with relevant information of various livelihood aspects. The centre will be looked after by the resource persons appointed by the government.
Lyngdoh told the gathering at the inauguration function, , “The intention of the government for setting up of the enterprise facilitation centres in the state is to help people , especially businessmen, with advices and relevant information on how to set up self employments”.
Lyngdoh expressed hope that the presence of EFC will help the people of the area to horn their business acumen and also look ahead on how to improve their day to day livelihood.
Lyngdoh also underlined the need for entrepreneurs who runs their industries to upscale it with modern technology and said the centre will be a hub where entrepreneurs can come together to share their views and opinions with the experts.
Lyngdoh, therefore, called upon the educated unemployed youth to come forward and make use of this opportunity for setting up their own businesses.
Earlier South West Khasi hills district deputy commissioner A Mawlong, who is also the chairman of the Meghalaya Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme under the district, said that this Enterprise Facilitation Centre will bring about a change in the life of the people of the area.
Mawlong also called upon officers of all line departments to work hard and take serious steps to fulfill the mission of the Meghalaya Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Programme. He urged the people to cooperate with the government for overall implementation of development projects and development schemes in the district. – By Our Reporter
