SHILLONG, DEC 24: Former Meghalaya minister and veteran Congress leader Friday Lyngdoh died on Friday night at around 7.30 pm at his residence in Mawkhar. He is the third state’s political leader to have passed away this year.
Veteran HSPDP leader HS Lyngdoh and GNC president Clifford R Marak are the other two who passed away this year.
The former Mawkhar legislator passed away after a prolonged illness at the age of 86 years.
Friday Lyngdoh had served as minister in the DD Lapang led ministry and held various portfolios including that of urban affair minister. He was also the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president.
Lyngdoh, who was a three-time legislator, is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Lyngdoh was first elected as legislator from Mawkhar constituency In 1990 during the bye election. He represented the constituency again in 2003 and 2008.
His funeral will take place on Monday and the funeral service will begin at noon.-By Our Reporter
