Earth cutting prohibited

SHILLONG, APR 8: The Ri Bhoi deputy commissioner has prohibited cutting of earth at Killing, Baridua and other adjoining district that is likely to cause damage to land, road, lanes and degradation of environment.In this regard the deputy commissioner has issued an order under section 144 Cr.P.C on Monday issuing the prohibition and also the warning to all those who violates it.

The prohibition became necessary in view of the rampant and illegal cutting of earth and trees at Killing, Baridua and other adjoining areas causing damage to the land/ road and the public in general.- By Our Reporter
