SHILLONG, DEC 14: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today inaugurated the 21st general body meeting of the Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association (MVSA) held at the conference hall, Directorate of AH & Veterinary, Shillong.
In his inaugural address, the Deputy Chief Minister suggested on the need for the newly recruited doctors in the Department to undergo at least 3 months of administrative training at MATI in order to increase their working capabilities. He also urged upon the Department to put concerted effort and to take initiative at the grassroot level for the benefit and welfare of the people in the rural areas.
Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya I/c AH & Veterinary Department, KN Kumar in his address informed that only 15% area of land in the State are cultivable which puts a tremendous pressure on the farmers leading to rural stress. In order to prevent rural stress, KN Kumar reiterated on the need to integrate the allied sectors.
Director, AH & Veterinary Department, Dr. C Shilla, President, MVSA, Dr KB Sahkhar and General Secretary, MVSA, Dr BS Langbang were also present during the inaugural programme.
