SHILLONG, SEPT 2: The traditional chiefs have decided to extend its support to the Dorbar Bah (Grand Assembly) called by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to be held at Polo ground on September 5. The decision to support was taken at a meeting of the Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya (GCCM) on Tuesday.
The Dorbar Bah seeks to discuss and deliberate on issues related to the KHAD (Appointment and Succession of Chiefs & Headmen) Rules, 2015, KHAD (Land Development and Building Regulation) 2015, Ordinance and MUDA building byelaws.
Informing of the support, GCCM chairman John F Kharshiing said on the August 27 the GCCM decided to extends its support to the proposed gathering convened by the KHADC in consultation with the JHADC and urge all to make time to attend the meeting of the people from all over Khasi and Jaintia hills so that the central and state authorities can witness the true will of the people and to continue to maintain their customary laws and practices over land, forest, water, minerals, judicial, executive and legislative, which is continuing till date. – By Our Reporter
