SHILLONG, SEPT 22: The state Cabinet today approved the appointment of 11 non-bonded doctors under 3F regulation of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) Regulations, 1972.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting here, health minister Roshan Warjri said the eleven non-bonded doctors also include one specialist doctor. The appointment under 3F regulation is on ad hoc basis.
Asked, she informed that there are around 100 posts of doctor lying vacant in the state.
She however said that normal recruitment process will be conducted by the MPSC for filling up these vacancies.
The health minister also informed that there are few applications received by the department from bonded doctors as well and they are under process.
Reacting to a query, chief minister Mukul Sangma said that there is huge gap between demand and supply of doctors, the challenges which the state will continue to face.
He said that the state government is happy to utilize the services of non-bonded doctors. According to him, in addition to state quota, students from the state are taking admission in the various medical colleges across the country and also abroad.
