SHILLONG, JULY 24: Newly elected Chairman of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Teinwell Dkhar today asked an opposition member to lodge a police complaint against persons responsible for sending “offensive” text messages to him.
“Since the incident had happened outside the House, you are adviced to file an FIR against them,” Dkhar said.
This was after opposition PDF member from Mawkyrwat Hadrian Lyngdoh, who unsuccessfully contested for the chairman’s post held here on Tuesday, brought the matter to the notice of the House while participating in the felicitation of newly elected Chairman.
Lyngdoh informed that while he was still sleeping, he received an offensive text message from an unknown number 7005635969 at around 1.22 am on July 13, the date which was fixed for holding the election to the post of chief executive member in the council.
“The particular number had used offensive languages against me which has really affected me as an elected representative,” he said.
Suspecting that it could be one of the members of the House, Lyngdoh also requested the House to consider taking steps to find out who is responsible for such act. “I request that you summon the owner of this number and take action accordingly,” he said.
