SHILLONG, OCT 27: The Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) Sabuda Circle today demanded the state government to consider setting up of a police outpost at Madan Umwang, a village along the inter-state border in Ri Bhoi District.
In a memorandum submitted here on Friday, CSWO-SC president T Marsharing urged the intervention of the home minister HDR Lyngdoh to set up the police outpost at the village in order to provide security and protection to the Khasi people residing in villages falling under the areas of dispute in Block-II.
She informed that there has been frequent disruption by the Assam government on the implementation of schemes funded by the Meghalaya government in the Khasi villages.
For instance, the construction of the Building for rearing eri worms funded by Sericulture Department, Govt. of Meghalaya has been disrupted by Assam government, she said.
According to her, recently, the implementation of electricity schemes in Sabuda village has been disrupted by Assam government.
