SHILLONG, JAN 29:Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, P. W. Ingty today inaugurated the District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) at Ganesh Das Government Maternal & Child Health Hospital, Shillong in the presence of Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Health & Family Welfare Department cum Mission Director, NHM, Shri Pravin Bakshi, Director of Health Services (MCH&FW), Dr. R. M. Lamare, Director of Health Services (R), Dr. B. Mawthoh and Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. T. Wahlang among others.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Shri P. W. Ingty said that DEIC is a far reaching initiative by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and with the right kind of intervention it will serve the child at birth upto the age of 18 years with early detection and diagnosis of defects at birth, disabilities, malnutrition and development delays thereby providing a better health for the children.
Besides the DEIC at Ganesh Das Government Maternal & Child Health Hospital, Shillong, the DEIC is also functioning in the other two districts of the State, viz, Jowai Civil Hospital, West Jaintia Hills District and at District Maternity & Child Hospital, Tura, West Garo Hills District.
