SHILLONG, MAR 15: On operation of the model code of conduct and in order to ensure a free, fair and smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha Election to be held on April 11, the District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills District has directed all Arms License Holders from carrying arms and to deposit their arms in the nearest Police Station i.e. Mawkyrwat, Ranikor and Nonghyllam.
Similarly, the District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hills District has issued an order prohibiting any person or persons form carrying arms and also directed all arms licence holders in East Jaintia Hills District to deposit their weapons along with Xerox copy of Licences to their respective Police Stations and Outposts for safe custody and the same will be released after the election process is over. However, this order shall not apply to members of the Police Security Forces, Paramilitary Forces who may carry Arms in connection with their lawful duties.
These orders will come into force with immediate effect and will remain in force till the election process is over.
