RESUBELPARA, APR 19: North Garo Hills deputy commissioner W Khyllep stressed on the need to create a conducive environment to usher in development and prosperity in the region at a record gathering during the one day Special Interactive Programme held by the Sub Divisional Public Relation’s Officer in collaboration with the district administration at Tapa Darenchi on Friday.
Tapa Darenchi is infamous for frequent attacks on security forces deployed in the region by militants and Khyllep took the opportunity of the record gathering to urge the people to maintain peace and usher in sustainable development. Referring to a memorandum submitted to him earlier by the people wherein they have emphasized on the need for a water pipe connection and a permanent police out post at Tapa Darenchi, Khyllep informed that he would take up the matter with the concerned departments and look into as soon as possible.
North Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Dr N Rajaranthandhan, who attended the gathering as the guest of honour expressed his sadness seeing school drop outs and other youths roaming aimlessly on the streets. Citing an example of the Special Interactive Programme he said that the youth could avail vital information on livelihood generation opportunities from such programmes.
Stating that it was imperative that the people worked with the government to achieve peace and prosperity Rajaranthandhan thanked the people for turning out in large numbers and informed that the police was conducting citizen’s committee meetings all over the district and would soon hold one at Tapa Darenchi.- By Our Reporter
