SHILLONG, SEPT 19: Chief Secretary Y Tsering today launched the National Mission on GeM (Government e-Marketplace) at Yojana Bhavan, Main Secretariat Building, Shillong.
Addressing the launching programme, Tsering said that GeM will not only make public procurement simpler and transparent but will also provide a platform for all the startup entrepreneurs, SHGs and vendors of the State to promote and sell their products.
He also called upon the State Government Departments to sensitize the people about this facility and to encourage them to take advantage of the platform by registering themselves with the portal.
Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is the National Public Procurement Portal to facilitate online procurement of common Goods & Services required by various Government Departments/Organizations/PSUs
Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya,P. W. Ingty, Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Finance Department, R. V. Suchiang and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Finance Department, P. K. Agrahari was also present during the inaugural programme.
Earlier, Deputy CEO, GeM, Ministry of Commerce, Shri D. Jha gave an overview of the GeM.
The function was followed by a Training programme on GeM for Departmental Secretaries and Heads of Departments. The training programme for Drawing and Disbursing Officers/Master Trainers including Finance Personnel and Vendors/MSMEs/CSCs will go on till the 21st September, 2018 wherein topics namely: Buyers’ Training on GeM-Introduction on GeM, GFR Rules and Special Terms and Conditions, Creation of Primary Users and Secondary Users, Modes of Purchases on GeM, Generation of CRAC and Payment on GeM, will be covered.
