SHILLONG, MAR 13: Shillong Lajong FC will face Mohun Bagan in the crucial and last group match in the Under 20 I-League at the JRD Tata Complex in Jamshedpur on Thursday.
A media release issued here said, Lajong is currently in the third position with three points while Mohun Bagan is sitting pretty at the number one position of Group C with 7 points.
In the third match of Group C, the Shillong lads had held Air India to a 2-2 draw while the leaders Mohun Bagan had won 1-0 against Churchill Brothers. The only hope for the Reds in order to advance to the next round is to beat Mohun Bagan and pray for a Churchill win against the second place Sesa in their last match.
“Whether we qualify for the final round or not, our team will play to win,” said Lajong’s assistant coach Alison Kharsyntiew, adding: “Mohun Bagan are a very good team as well as being very well organised. They are strong in their attack, but we have no problems since we have a strong defense as Zodin returns to the team from suspension. The boys are mentally ready for the game and I believe the boys will give their best. We will fight to the end and hope we will come out with three points tomorrow.” -By Our Reporter
