SHILLONG, JULY 30: Two members of a newly floated criminal gang from Garo hills – ‘Achik National Cooperative Army (ANCA) were nabbed by the police from Shillong on Wednesday.
“Two members of the ANCA were arrested from the city by the police,” East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang informed saying that the two have been identified as Sengseng M Sangma (21) of Rari, North Garo Hills and James R Marak (24) of Williamnagar, in East Garo Hills.
Kharkhrang said based on intelligence input that some militants from Garo hills were trying to enter the city to avoid the ongoing police operation there, a team of SWAT & CRPF immediately launch operation and intercepted a Night Super Bus at around 5 am on Wednesday at Mawiong and the two were picked up.
During interrogation, the two revealed that they are members of the recently formed criminal gang styled ‘Achik National Cooperative Army (ANCA)’ and were directly involved in the shooting of Avijeet Mazumdar in Garo Hills recently, Kharkhrang said.
Kharkhrang said the two will be handed over to West Garo hills police.- By Our Reporter
