SHILLONG, MAY 8: A 42-year-old woman in Shillong has been tested positive for coronavirus four successive times.
The woman, a family friend of the first COVID-19 patient, is the 11th patient to be tested positive for COVID-19 in the state. She was initially tested negative but later tested positive again.
“The result of the fourth test of the last COVID-19 patient is still positive. Her condition is stable,” Health Minister AL Hek told reporters on Friday.
He said Samples will again be collected for testing after three days. “The fifth test on the last patient will be done again on May 11,” Hek added.
Meanwhile, a total of 2165 samples have been collected and tested out of which 2080 were negative while results for 70 tests are awaited.
The 10 patients who have recovered after they were retested negative are still under home quarantine for 14 days.
Earlier, it was alleged that the Director of Bethany hospital (L) Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang might have contracted the contagious from his son-in-law, who is a pilot. However, the pilot had clarified that he was tested negative.
When asked, the health minister informed that a surveillance committee is still on the job to trace the origin of COVID-19 infection in the state.
“We are waiting for the report from surveillance committee. However, so far they are yet to trace the origin of the infection and are yet to come to any conclusion on this matter,” he added.
