SHILLONG, JUL 10: The death count in the state due to COVID-19 crossed the 900-mark after 7 persons succumbed to the viral infection on Saturday.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 from South Garo Hills district.
He said the state also detected 485 new cases. These include 161 in East Khasi Hills, 96 West Jaintia Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 47 North Garo Hills, 35 West Khasi Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 16 East Jaintia Hills, 13 Ri Bhoi, 12 South West Khasi Hills, 10 South Garo Hills and 5 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 506 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 183 are from East Khasi Hills, 154 Ri Bhoi, 58 West Garo Hills,28 West Jaintia Hills, 23 North Garo Hills, 18 West Khasi Hills, 15 South West Khasi Hills, 15 East Garo Hills 8 East Jaintia Hills and 4 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 54,155 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,363 are active cases, 48,886 recovered and 906 deaths.
With 1,397 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 904 cases and West Garo Hills with 559 cases.
There are 515 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 276 West Khasi Hills, 192 North Garo Hills, 118 East Garo Hills, 120 East Jaintia Hills, 112 South Garo Hills, 106 South West Khasi Hills and 64 South West Garo Hills.
