SHILLONG, AUG 16: The state on Monday recorded 8 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,235 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 6 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 2 West Khasi Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 352 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 241 in East Khasi Hills, 24 West Khasi Hills, 4 West Garo Hills, 28 Ri Bhoi, 40 West Jaintia Hills, 6 East Garo Hills, 1 North Garo Hills, 4 East Jaintia Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 2 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 649 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 345 East Khasi Hills, 55 West Garo Hills, 21 West Jaintia Hills, 131 West Khasi Hills, 6 East Garo Hills, 7 North Garo Hills, 3 South Garo Hills, 0 South West Garo Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 47 Ri Bhoi and 26 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 72,160 COVID-19 cases out of which 3,761 are active cases, 67,164 recovered and 1,235 deaths.
With 1,695 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 471 and West Jaintia Hills 454
There are 383 cases in West Garo Hills, 393 Ri Bhoi, 175 South West Khasi Hills, 46 East Jaintia Hills, 34 North Garo Hills, 40 East Garo Hills, 38 South West Garo Hills and 32 South Garo Hills.
