COVID-19: 52 new cases, 2 deaths

SHILLONG, OCT 21: The state on Thursday recorded two more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,441 in the state.

 

According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, each case was reported from East Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

 

Dr War said the state has also detected 52 new COVID-19 cases. These include 19 in East Khasi Hills, 27 West Khasi Hills and 1 each in West Jaintia Hills, West Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills.

 

Dr War also informed that 76 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

 

Of these, 48 are from East Khasi Hills, 18 West Khasi Hills, 7 Ri Bhoi, 2 West Jaintia Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.

 

So far, the state has detected a total of 83,210 COVID-19 cases out of which 735 are active cases, 81,034 recovered and 1,441 deaths.

 

With 454 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 168 cases and West Jaintia Hills 44.

 

There are 32 in Ri Bhoi, 18 West Garo Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 4 East Jaintia Hills, , 4 South West Garo Hills 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills and 2 South Garo Hills.
