SHILLONG, AUG 12: The state on Thursday recorded 5 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,200 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from Ri Bhoi district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 429 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 153 in East Khasi Hills, 80 West Khasi Hills, 46 West Garo Hills, 71 Ri Bhoi, 11 West Jaintia Hills, 5 East Garo Hills, 5 North Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 10 South Garo Hills and 2 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 381 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 227 East Khasi Hills, 18 West Garo Hills, 34 West Jaintia Hills, 17 West Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 4 East Jaintia Hills, 46 Ri Bhoi and 23 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 70,661 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,539 are active cases, 64,922 recovered and 1,200 deaths.
With 1,903 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 689 and West Garo Hills with 551 cases.
There are 418 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 461 Ri Bhoi, 239 South West Khasi Hills, 65 East Jaintia Hills, 57 North Garo Hills, 54 East Garo Hills, 47 South West Garo Hills and 55 South Garo Hills.
