SHILLONG, JUL 5: The state on Monday recorded nine COVID-19 related deaths pushing the death toll to 871.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 4 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 from West Jaintia Hills district and 1 each from South West Garo Hills district, South West Khasi Hills district and West Garo Hills district.
He said the state also detected 377 new cases. These include 134 in Ri Bhoi, 128 East Khasi Hills, 37 West Khasi Hills, 27 West Garo Hills, 23 West Jaintia Hills, 2 South Garo Hills, 11 East Jaintia Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 4 North Garo Hills 2 South West Garo Hills and 2 South West Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed that 448 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 177 are from East Khasi Hills, 69 Ri Bhoi, 57 West Garo Hills, 33 West Jaintia Hills, 21 East Garo Hills, 20 South West Khasi Hills, 18 South Garo Hills, 16 West Khasi Hills, 14 East Jaintia Hills, 13 North Garo Hills and 10 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 51,901 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,454 are active cases, 46,676 recovered and 871 deaths.
With 1,487 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by Ri Bhoi with 818 cases and West Jaintia Hills with 577 cases.
There are 467 cases in West Garo Hills, 261 North Garo Hills, 195 West Khasi Hills, 159 East Garo Hills, 122 South West Khasi Hills, 97 East Jaintia Hills, 90 South Garo Hills and 81 South West Garo Hills.
