SHILLONG, JUN 21: The state on Monday recorded five deaths due to COVID-19 pushing the death toll to 785.
According to the Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 3 deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills district and one each from Ri Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district.
The state also detected 269 new COVID-19 cases and with this the total number of active cases stand at 4,196.
Dr War said the new cases include 120 in East Khasi Hills, 57 Ri Bhoi, 42 West Jaintia Hills, 13 West Garo Hills, 12 East Garo Hills, 10 North Garo Hills, 6 West Khasi Hills, 5 East Jaintia Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 2 South West Garo Hills.
He also informed that 655 patients have also recovered from the viral infection during the past 24 hours.
Of these, 238 are from East Khasi Hills, 97 West Garo Hills, 83 West Jaintia Hills, 77 South West Khasi Hills, 46 Ri Bhoi, 28 West Khasi Hills, 21 North Garo Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 20 South West Garo Hills 19 East Jaintia HIlls and 6 South Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 45,555 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,196 are active cases, 40,574 recovered and 785 deaths.
With 1383 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Garo Hills with 644 cases and 540 West Jaintia Hills.
There are 502 cases in Ri Bhoi, 209 South West Khasi Hills, 210 North Garo Hills, 223 East Garo Hills, 180 South West Garo Hills, 137 South Garo Hills, 107 West Khasi Hills and 61 East Jaintia Hills.
