SHILLONG, JAN 20: The state on Thursday recorded two new COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,494 even as 329 persons have tested positive for the virus taking the total active cases to 1,629.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, the cases were reported from East Khasi Hills and Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Dr War also informed of 329 new cases, 204 were detected from East Khasi Hills, 65 West Garo Hills, 18 Ri Bhoi, 12 East Jaintia Hills, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 7 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 4 South Garo Hills, 4 West Khasi Hills, 2 each in East Garo Hills, North Garo Hills and South West Khasi Hills and 1 in South West Garo Hills.
He said that 142 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 118 are from East Khasi Hills, 18 West Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills and 1 West Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 87,404 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,629 are active cases, 84,281 recovered and 1,494 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases at 1,117 followed by West Garo Hills 221, Ri Bhoi 111, West Jaintia Hills 44, East Jaintia Hills 36, West Khasi Hills 24, Eastern West Khasi Hills 17, South Garo Hills 15, South West Khasi Hills 14, South West Garo Hills 11, North Garo Hills 10 and East Garo Hills 9.
