SHILLONG, SEPT 9: The state on Thursday reported 2 COVID-19 deaths, taking the total death toll to 1,339 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, one each from East Khasi Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 218 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 65 in East Khasi Hills, 38 West Khasi Hills, 4 West Garo Hills, 11 Ri Bhoi, 82 West Jaintia Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 5 North Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 7 South West Khasi Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 134 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 78 East Khasi Hills, 2 West Garo Hills, 15 West Jaintia Hills, 6 West Khasi Hills, 1 East Garo Hills, 0 North Garo Hills, 0 South Garo Hills, 0 South West Garo Hills, 0 East Jaintia Hills, 26 Ri Bhoi and 6 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 77,689 COVID-19 cases out of which 1,970 are active cases, 74,380 recovered and 1,339 deaths.
With 916 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 394 cases and Ri Bhoi with 164.
There are 221 in West Jaintia Hills, 86 West Garo Hills, 115 South West Khasi Hills, 37 East Jaintia Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 18 East Garo Hills, 6 South West Garo Hills and 2 South Garo Hills.
