SHILLONG, AUG 9: The state on Monday recorded 11 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,174 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 5 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 2 each from Ri Bhoi district and West Khasi Hills district and 1 each from South Garo Hills district and East Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 187 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 95 in East Khasi Hills, 19 West Khasi Hills, 21 West Garo Hills, 13 Ri Bhoi, 28 West Jaintia Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 0 South Garo Hills and 3 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 479 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 221 East Khasi Hills, 59 West Garo Hills, 58 West Jaintia Hills, 31 West Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 7 North Garo Hills, 9 South Garo Hills, 8 South West Garo Hills, 10 East Jaintia Hills, 47 Ri Bhoi and 22 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 69,358 COVID-19 cases out of which 4,734 are active cases, 63,450 recovered and 1,174 deaths.
With 1,795 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 813 and West Garo Hills with 597 cases.
There are 526 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 473 Ri Bhoi, 228 South West Khasi Hills, 76 East Jaintia Hills, 62 North Garo Hills, 64 East Garo Hills, 51 South West Garo Hills and 49 South Garo Hills.
