SHILLONG, AUG 1: The Meghalaya High Court has granted three-months time for the Shillong Cantonment Board to finalize its new building by-laws.
In an order issued here on Tuesday, the division bench headed by the chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari said, “This Court is inclined to grant further time as prayed for but with the observations that the matter has already been delayed and it is expected of all the concerned to assign this matter relating to the Building By-Laws of Shillong Cantonment Board top priority.”
Earlier during the hearing on a petition filed by the Shillong Cantonment Lease Holders Association (SCLHA), the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Board has filed another application (MC (WP(C) No.150 of 2017).
In the application, the CEO stated the steps being taken at the level of the Board and the Central Government for finalizing the new Building By-Laws and that extra time is required because of the lengthy process involved.
The Court has taken note of the submissions made earlier in this matter and indicated the requirements of expediting the process.
Disposing of the application, the division bench said that the SCB (applicant) is granted three months’ time.
