SHILLONG, JAN 21: The notification for the elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) slated on February 24 will be issued on February 5.
“The formal notification, the date for calling the constituencies to elect their representatives will be issued on February 5,” Meghalaya political department commissioner & secretary Jopthiaw Lyngdoh told reporters at a news conference on Tuesday.
Informing that that publication of the draft electoral rolls was on January 10, Lyngdoh said that the claims and objections have been fixed on January 25, while the disposal of claims and objections will be on January 29 and the publication of the final electoral rolls will be on February 4.
The filing of nomination papers will start from February 5 and the last date will be on February 10 till 3 pm to be followed by scrutiny of nomination papers after 3 pm. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers has been fixed on February 12 and finalization of publication and valid nomination and allocation of symbols will be on February 13, Lyngdoh informed.
Lyngdoh said that the date for of polls to the two ADCs will be held on February 24 and counting will be on February 27.- By Our Reporter
