Congress announces 5 more names

SHILLONG, JAN 28: The opposition Congress on Saturday released the second list of five candidates for the ensuing elections to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

 

The list approved by the central election committee (CEC) includes Jhanika Siangshai (Khliehriat), Arbiangkam Khar Sohmat (Amlarem), Chireng Peter R Marak (Kharkutta), Dr Tweel K Marak (Resubelpara) and Carla R Sangma (Rajabala).

 

The party is fielding candidates in all the 60 seats of which 10 are women.

 

Earlier on January 25, the party had announced its first list of 55 candidates including Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, who will be contesting from Sutnga-Saipung constituency.

 

The other nine females candidates are Deborah Marak (Williamnagar), Rona Khymdei (Nongpoh), Bethleen Dkhar (West Shillong), Venetia Pearl Mawlong (South Shillong), Dr Banidashisha Kharkongor (Nongthymmai), Lakyntiew Sohkhlet (Sohra), Pynhunlang Nongrum (Mawkynrew), Victorealness Syiemlieh (Ranikor) and Uttora G Sangma (Ampati).
