SHILLONG, JAN 14: The opposition Congress has announced its second list of 15 candidates for the forthcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) slated to be held on February 27.
The list, which was approved by the Meghalaya Pradesh Election Committee in its meeting held on January 12, include a coal businessman and a former NGO leader, both from Jaintia Hills region.
The four candidates from Khasi Hills region are Olet Kharsahnoh – Mawkynrew, Lamborsing Nongrum – Nongkrem, Ostiwel Lyngdoh Nonglait – Laban-Mawprem and Bajop Pyngrope – Rambrai Jyrngam.
Balios Swer, who is heading the Jaintia Coal Miners & Dealers Association (JCMDA), will be contesting from Bataw Lakadong constituency while a former NGO leader Philip James Bamon from Rymbai Khliehriat constituency.
The other candidates from Jaintia Hills region include Jeweller Synrem – Nartiang Umladang, Albinus Sympli – Mynsngat Khanduli, Winning G Sungoh – Mookaiaw, Bhalang Bang – Tuber, , Hopingstone Bareh – Sutnga Narwan, Michael Nongtdu – Sutnga Nongkhlieh, Philip Tangliang – Sumer, Arbor Hima Darnei – Saipung and Desous Pohshna – Narpuh.
