SHILLONG, OCT 24: The BJP Meghalaya state today accused the ruling Congress legislators of being “mentally imbalance” for they blame the BJP during the day but tried to build up relationship with the party leadership during the night.
“They (Congress MLAs) are mentally imbalance because during day time they blaming the party but they are contacting our high command at night for a safe passage to join the BJP,” BJP state spokesperson Basu Chakraborty said.
He was reacting to a recent statement made by Congress leader and cabinet minister Ronnie V Lyngdoh, who predicted that the BJP will lose badly in the upcoming Gujarat polls.
Chakraborty also claimed that many sitting legislators including those from the Congress are joining the BJP’s fold ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections.
Asked, he however refused to give the number of sitting MLAs joining the BJP and says that the number keeps on fluctuating. “We have already formed an alternative platform (to facilitate their joining),” Chakraborty said.
On Ronnie’s jibe at the frequent postponing of the BJP national chief Amit Shah visit to the state, BJP vice president John Anthony Lyngdoh said that the delay was due to the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls.
“However, the Congress may say anything but it is high time that Congress will not come to power in 2018,” he said while informing that the national president is likely to visit by last week of November or by first week of December.
The BJP leader further predicted that the ruling Congress will witness mass exodus of its legislators by next month.
“By the month of November, you will see landslide in the Congress in which its MLAs will move out of the party,” John said.
Stating that the Congress is blaming the BJP because it is feeling insecure, he said the Congress is becoming very nervous because it knows that it will not be able to come back to power in 2018.
