SHILLONG, JAN 5: The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) and the Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) have demanded that the authority concerned conduct fresh examination for the posts of Lower Divisional Assistant (LDA) in East Jaintia Hills District.
The demand came after only one out of 50 candidates was allegedly declared successful by the District Selection Committee (DSC) for the 23 LDA vacancy posts in the different departments under the district.
The two ngos have also served a 10-day deadline to the Deputy Commissioner, who is also heading the DSC, demanding immediately clarification from him on the issue.
“We demand the authority concerned to conduct a fresh examination for the posts of LDA in the district,” EJNC secretary Sambormi Lyngdoh said in a statement issued on Tuesday. He said that the two organizations are taken aback by the recent result declared by the District Selection Committee (DSC).
“It is very surprising that only one person out of the 50 candidates was declared successful when there are around 23 vacancies for the post of LDA,” Lyngdoh said.
Echoing similar concerns, HANM-EJH president Ency Shadap said, “We express great concern over the manner in which the DSC has conducted the examination. We highly suspect that there is something behind this given the fact that rampant backdoor appointment is an open secret.”
“We therefore, demand the Deputy Commissioner, who is also the chairman of the DSC, to clarify on this within 10 days,” Shadap said. He also informed that the two ngos would soon convene a joint meeting to decide on future course of action if the district authority fails to respond to the demand put forth by them on the issue.-By Our Reporter
