Commercial vehicles in Meghalaya must display driver, conductor info

SHILLONG, NOV 11: The state government has issued a notification making it mandatory for commercial passenger vehicles to display driver and conductor details inside the vehicle.
As per the notification of the Transport department, all vehicle permit holders, including taxis, auto-rickshaws, buses, national permit passenger vehicles, tourist permit vehicles, and school/educational institution transport vehicles, must display the following information: driver’s name, driving license number, contact details, permanent address, conductor’s name, license number, contact details, and permanent address (if applicable).
The information must be displayed in English and one regional language, on the dashboard or rear of the front seat, for visibility of passengers.
This measure aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and protection for passengers.
Existing permit holders must comply within 30 days of issuance.
