Coal auction to start from EJH

SHILLONG, MAR 17: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said auctioning of the extracted coal will start from East Jaintia Hills district.

Replying to a query raised by West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang in the Assembly, Sangma said that there are eleven designated coal depots in the state of which work for infrastructure has completed in six depots.

Sangma said the process to auction the extracted coal has commenced. “54,000 metric tons of coal has been transported (to the depots) for auctioning in East Jaintia Hills and 9,000 metric tons will be in South Garo Hills,” he said.

“This process will continue till we complete auctioning of all the 32 lakh metric tons of coal in the state,” he further added.

According to him, the NGT committee has fixed Rs 4,850 as the base price for coal.
