Shillong, Nov 16: Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma and found president of the Shillong Press Club and Mawprem legislator Manas Choudhury will grace the National Press Day celebration Friday afternoon as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Like every year, the national press day celebration is being organized by the Shillong Press Club in collaboration with the Meghalaya government’s Directorate of Information and Public in Shillong Club from 1 pm.
The celebration will be two pronged where the afternoon session which will commence at 1 pm will be a panel discussion on the theme “Role of the media during elections” to be inaugurated by Sangma.
Panelist will include former home minister, RG Lyngdoh, former president of the Khasi Student Union (KSU), Samuel Jyrwa, Sanjib Kakoty, Principal of St. Edmunds College, Dr. Sylvanus Lamare and Secretary General of Press Club of India Anil Anand who is also a very senior political correspondent.
This will be followed by the closing function at 5.30 pm which will be attended by Meghalaya Speaker Charles Pyngrope as the chief guest and UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh as the guest of honour.
The evening session will culminate with dinner accompanied by a live band and for the very first time, a DJ will be introduced for the young ones.-By Our Reporter
